As you know, we’re in the year of 2019 and it’s no secret that our environment is changing rapidly. Over the past 100 years, we’ve seen the American Chestnut Tree gradually diminish. We could potentially see this tree go extinct within our lifetime! (That is if we don’t do anything about it, of course).
This Fall, we will be planting American Chestnut Trees in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Join us in making sure that this very vital tree doesn’t go extinct anytime soon. All volunteers are welcome to the Fall planting events which will also include educational presentations and information on how we can help plant trees and look after our environment. Adults and families are also invited to participate in hands-on planting of the trees and companion plants. Join us for a potluck lunch at conclusion and feel free to bring a dish to share. It’s sure to be a fun, yet informative time!
Our first tree planting event will take place in Columcille Megalith Park, Bangor PA. It will be held on the 28th of September from 11-6PM (Click Here for Event). It would be a great opportunity for families to spend some outdoor time together as well as an opportunity for folks to receive credit for community service, all while making a positive impact on the environment.
There will also be another tree planting event on the 16th of November in Columcille Megalith Park in conjunction with the Reclamation Of The Earth Based Ways Weekend. The tree planting event in New Jersey will be held on the 2nd of November in the Community garden at South Branch Preserve, Budd lake, NJ from 10-6PM (Click Here). All are welcome to help restore the American Chestnut Tree. It was once considered one of the most important wildlife plants here in the United States.
We can help make this tree what it once was! Join us in Columcille Megalith Park and South Branch Preserve this fall for these tree planting events and bring a friend!
